Mumbai auto-rickshaw and taxi fares rise from today

Minimum fares for auto-rickshaws and taxis increased across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region from September 1, raising the cost of the first 1.5 km for passengers in Mumbai and neighbouring areas.

The minimum auto-rickshaw fare has gone up from ₹26 to ₹27. The minimum taxi fare has increased from ₹31 to ₹33 for the first 1.5 km.

Drivers have until November 30 to recalibrate their meters to reflect the new fares. Penalties will be imposed on drivers whose meters are not compliant from December 1.

The revision comes after an 18-month gap since the last fare hike. The change has been attributed to rising operational costs faced by drivers, including higher fuel prices and maintenance expenses.
