Republic Day 2026: Delhi-NCR issues wide traffic curbs from Jan 25 night; commuters advised to avoid central Delhi
Ahead of the Republic Day parade on 26 January 2026, authorities rolled out extensive traffic restrictions and diversions across Delhi and parts of NCR, including limits on heavy/commercial vehicle entry from the night of 25 January.
Delhi traffic police issued a detailed Republic Day advisory warning of widespread road closures, diversions and vehicle restrictions across central and New Delhi to ensure smooth conduct of the parade on 26 January 2026.
As part of the plan, entry of heavy, medium and light goods vehicles (except essential services) into Delhi is restricted from 9 pm on 25 January until the parade concludes on 26 January (around early afternoon, per advisory).
The parade is set to follow the traditional route from Vijay Chowk to the Red Fort, with restrictions concentrated around the ceremonial corridor and feeder roads.
