Tejashwi Yadav made RJD national working president; Rohini Acharya alleges ‘infiltrators’ and ‘conspiracy’
RJD appointed Tejashwi Yadav as national working president in Patna, in the presence of Lalu Prasad Yadav. Ahead of the party meeting, his sister Rohini Acharya posted that the party’s command had slipped into the hands of ‘infiltrators and conspirators’, fuelling chatter about internal disquiet.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal has appointed Tejashwi Yadav as its national working president, a step that formalises his central organisational role within the party. The announcement was made on January 25, 2026, with RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav present at the time of the elevation.
The development, however, arrived alongside public signs of unease within the Yadav family’s political circle. Hours before the RJD’s national executive meeting in Patna, Tejashwi’s sister Rohini Acharya posted on X alleging that the party’s “real command” had moved into the hands of “infiltrators and conspirators” working to damage what she described as “Laluvad”.
Acharya did not name any individual, but argued that those responsible for leadership decisions should “introspect”, and warned that silence would amount to complicity—remarks that immediately intensified speculation of internal factionalism.
RJD leaders projected the appointment as a leadership consolidation exercise after electoral setbacks, while Acharya’s comments signalled that not everyone close to the party’s legacy is comfortable with how decisions are being taken or who is influencing them behind the scenes.
Politically, the elevation gives Tejashwi a more formal grip over routine decision-making and party functioning, positioning him as the operational face of the organisation. The controversy triggered by the social media post, though, suggests the party will also have to manage perceptions of unity and internal discipline as it resets its strategy.
