In a boost for public science outreach, the Indira Gandhi Planetarium in Lucknow is set to screen a new full-dome 3D stereo show titled “The Moon Mission – India’s Journey to the Moon” starting Republic Day, 26 January 2026. The initiative is designed to translate complex space milestones into an accessible, theatre-style experience for schoolchildren and families.

The presentation is described as a 28-minute immersive programme that focuses on ISRO’s Chandrayaan missions and the technological and scientific achievements behind India’s lunar exploration. The planetarium format allows viewers to experience visuals across the dome, creating the sensation of being surrounded by the Moon, the Sun and other celestial imagery.

According to the plan announced, the show will be inaugurated by Pandhariji Yadav, Principal Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh. The organisers say the presentation uses active stereo 3D glasses, a format that can make space objects appear to pop out in depth, helping audiences grasp scale and motion more intuitively.

The script has been credited to Sudhir Kumar N., described as a former ISRO official, signalling an effort to maintain scientific authenticity while still keeping the storytelling engaging.
